1. Crates > Cardboard (Especially for Valuables, Odd Shapes, Records etc.)

Awkward or fragile items like vinyl records, books, and kitchen gadgets are safer and easier to carry when packed in rigid plastic crates. Crates offer more protection, better stacking, and less chance of collapse than standard cardboard — especially in wet Scottish weather.

2. Label Smart

Save time and stress on the other end by labelling each box or crate with:
-
The destination room (e.g. "Kitchen", "Master Bedroom")
-
A short list of contents (e.g. "Pots, Pans, Toaster")
-
Labels on at least two sides plus the top — so you can still identify boxes even when they're stacked.
Your future self will thank you.
3. Pack One Room at a Time

Avoid chaos. Tackle packing room by room, starting with low-use areas like guest rooms, utility cupboards, or seasonal storage.
